Lee Da Yeon

  작가는 전시제목 만나를 중의적 표현으로서 기독교 성경책에 나오는 ‘manna(만나)’와 국어의 동사 ‘만나다’ 라는 두가지 의미로 사용한다. 작가는 모세의 기적인 ‘만나’가 이스라엘 백성에게 반복적으로 일어났을 때 기적 마저도 그 의미를 상실한다는 점을 발견한다. 작가는 오히려 평범한 하루하루가 별다른 일 없이 반복되는 것, 그러한 우리의 일상이 MANNA (만나)이며 그 안에서 기적의 모습을 찾는다. 이러한 관점은 일상에서 익숙해져 특별히 주목하지 못하는 사물에 시선을 멈추고, 포착된 대상과 마주한 순간의 심리적 경험과 감상을 혼합하여 화면에 옮긴다. 이러한 작품의 소재는 여행지에서 만났던 장소, 사물 이거나 작가가 다니던 홍대 주변 또는 매일 지나치는 작업실 주변에서 가져왔다. 그러나 그곳이 어디이며 무엇인가 라는 것이 특별함을 주는 것은 아니다. 작가의 시선이 머무는 순간 그 대상 들과 만나고 소통함 으로 선택되어진 특별함이다.

  Lee Da yeon uses the title of the exhibition as a dual expression, "manna" in the Christian Bible and the verb "meet" in the Korean language. She finds that even miracles lose their meaning when Moses' miracle "meet" occurs repeatedly to the Israeli people. Rather, she finds a miracle in that ordinary days are repeated without much happening, and that our daily lives are MANNA. This perspective stops looking at objects that are not particularly noticeable in daily life, and mixes the psychological experience and appreciation of the moment facing the captured object and moves it to the screen. The materials of these works were brought from the place where they met at the travel destination, around Hongdae, where objects or writers used to go, or around the studio that passes by every day. But where it is and what it is doesn't make it special. The moment the artist's gaze stays, it is the speciality chosen by meeting and communicating with the objects.
